Electronic Arts (EA) produced its first FIFA Video Game in 1993. Each year since, EA has updated and upgraded the only game licensed for video use by FIFA. Upgrades have reflected everything from graphic improvements to roster changes and to the addition of some pretty intense modes that are sure to peak the interest of every FIFA football or soccer enthusiast.

The latest versions contain exclusively licensed leagues and teams from around the world. The 2010 FIFA video game is far and away the biggest selling video soccer game in history. Released in Europe prior to the April release in North America, sales of FIFA 10 exceeded 1.7 million units before the game was introduced on this side of the pond.

The FIFA Video Game series is complimented by a variety of major tournaments, including FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Football Championship and UEFA Champions League. As of Dec 2009, EA’s FIFA Video Game is sold in 37 countries and translated into different languages. Users can find an online opponent at any time of day or night and from any place in the world. That flexibility remains just part of the allure of the FIFA Video Game.

FIFA 10, also known as FIFA 10 Soccer in North America, is the most recent version of the series. Users of previous versions will notice some immediate changes, but there are other “behind the scenes” improvements. The most noticeable updates are:

A new “Assistant Manager” Mode that permits users to make changes to the playing squad based on the expectations of the upcoming match as well as the hard reality of the team’s financial condition. Talk about reality! This mode is designed to give the user the “Total Football Experience.”

Expansion of the “Player Experience and Growth System.” Player evaluations are now based on the player’s performance and achievements.

Increased number of stadiums. 50 stadiums are now available.

The number of leagues has been increased to 31.

A more functional player control that easily navigates 360 degrees. This replaces the previous 8-direction player control.

Other changes are consistent with previous versions of the FIFA Video Game. In the 2010 version, players are more clearly visible, the graphics are enhanced and the audio is filled with lively commentary. Celebrations are far more elaborate and this year’s FIFA Video Game features the best replay options available.

Electronic Arts states that more than 50 improvements have been made to the FIFA 10 versions for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. PlayStation 3 and Xbox versions of the FIFA Video Game also offer a mode called Ultimate Team, which allows the user create a custom team, much like the coaches selecting their rosters for the World Cup.

For users seeking the “Total Football Experience” and the “World Cup Experience,” the 2010 FIFA Video Game is the cream of the crop. Just as millions will view the World Cup in South Africa, the FIFA Video Game will provide endless online opportunities for local, national and international challenges. Sharpen your game and take your skills online to battle the best FIFA Video Game players in the universe!

A free PC game by Electronic Arts (EA Sports) has recently been announced. The makers of the FIFA video game will release it online in June 2010. It is currently in beta mode and is being tested by players. Their feedback will help the developers make necessary changes prior to the open beta mode in June.

The game, EA Sports FIFA Online, will be released internationally in several stages. FIFA Online will hit shelves as the English language version in June. The following two years they plan to launch the product in other languages in North America and Europe.

The online game will offer more than 15,000 players from 500 teams and 30 leagues. Two interesting points to note are that the closed beta stage currently features a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa tournament mode and can only be controlled by using a mouse. The second stage of closed beta features a League Mode where fans can play online matches while managing their favorite soccer team. In managing a team, gamers can build a dream team by acquiring or creating players and upgrading skills. The game centers around building up your favorite team to be the best in the world.

In addition to these great features, players can obtain new apparel through in-game currency. Other features of the game will be based on the feedback from current beta mode players.

Here are 3 World Cup video games which will let you manage the results of the match, just incase your team drops out early this summer.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The obvious place to begin here is with the FIFA branded official game which, the way it runs, is very nice indeed. You can have fun with any one of 199 clubs out of the 204 nations around the world that entered the competition, while using five absentees only missed for purely comedy reasons. Absolutely no offence intended to the Papua New Guinean FA.

There may be a few better characteristics from previous versions of this video game empire with injuries now possible outside of games, a home advantage with fatigue for games at altitude and a composure effect in penalty shoot outs. Another benefit, of course, would be that the video game provides full naming rights on the players combined with real conditions of the 10 stadia to be used in the finals along with 55 old school World Cup scenarios to play through. An abundance of fun and ought to undoubtedly keep you busy until the next Premier League season commences.

PES 2010. Again and again, Pro Evolution Soccer is released on top above the FIFA games as the football video gamer’s game of choice. The downside associated with Konami’s family is that they seldom contain the entitlements to appropriately title the clubs and players. The good thing is, there’s not so much of a challenge with that national teams. There is not any World Cup 2010 part of the game as such however playing the National Team Cup is basically the same. There are still not quite as many playable nations, however all the major ones you’d never want to use are up for grabs. The one downside is that this game is quite a few months old now and the new one will be released some time prior to the end of the year.

Real Football 2009. New, Real Football 2009, most definitely isn’t. The trouble is the fact that if you happen to own the Nintendo DS/DSi you will discover a lesser amount of options for World Cup video games than you might envision. The truth is, the only legitimate choice is FIFA World Cup 2006 and we’re not about to suggest you begin playing that. So, instead that leaves you with either the straight FIFA 2010 video game or this slightly more imaginative Real Football 2009. The video game actually plays very much like the FIFA titles with truly very tight graphics for a 2-year-old video game but, in spite of Spain’s Cesc Fabregas appearing on the cover, it suffers from the same rights issues as the PES series. The best option is most likely to purchase a brand new console
